Mothering Open Mic Presents “Read a Poem to a Child”

Join us on Saturday, September 29th from 2pm-4pm at Bridge Storage and ARTSpace to celebrate “Read a Poem to a Child” day with Mothering Open Mic, hosted by Aqueila M. Ross.

CALLING ALL POETS! Spoken Word Artists, Comedians, Musicians, Writers, Authors, Painters, Visual Artists and “Mothers” who have stories to share! All gender binaries, non-conforming, guardians, daddies, families and babies welcome!!!

The term “Mothering” can be interpreted widely: being a mother, playing the mother, being mothered, mother earth, the mother spirit etc. Within the confines of a safe space, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, poems and short stories about what it is like to be a mother, share their birth story and honor their birth or adopted mother. When given the space to ask the question “why?” or “why not?”— you can manifest the mothering dream to nurture and care for yourself, the community and mother earth.

Bring a journal or notebook, books, poems, short stories, novels, unfinished writing, jokes, music, visual art, favorite blanket, favorite pillow, something that comforts you, and favorite yummy or healthy finger food item to share.
